Nelles Public School Addition and Alterations

Nelles Public School is located on the east side of Grimsby and serves a student population of 230. Baker and Elmes Architects had previously provided consultant services for additions and alterations at the school in 1992.

Nelles Public School

A large addition was wrapped around three sides of the existing school and contains a new main entry and gymnasium with change facilities, new classrooms, Kindergarten and Library. The gymnasium was upgraded in size and materials under a cost sharing agreement with the municipality. Modern heating, A/C, electrical and fire protection systems were also retrofitted to the existing school.

Grapeview Public School

The need for a new elementary school in West St. Catharines was identified and the Board decided to proceed with a new school to serve Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8 students. Baker and Elmes Architects were the project architects on this project. Construction commenced July 1991 and was completed in August 1992.

Senator Gibson Elementary School

Holy Cross High School Addition & Alterations

The existing Grantham High School was turned over to the Niagara District Catholic School Board to become the new Holy Cross High School. The new school had to be designed to accommodate a student enrolment increase from 1100 to 1400 students.

Masterplan for the Athletic Complex Ridley College

Ridley College engaged Quartek Group Inc. to develop a master plan for the Athletic Complex. Quartek Group Inc. worked with the Management and Board of the College to develop a vision which incorporated as many of the long-range goals as possible while proposing a realistic capital budget for the project.

Brock University – Taro Hall Renovations

Taro Hall renovations were part of an on-going contract that Quartek Group Inc. has with Brock University’s Facilities Management to perform Architectural and Engineering services for its St. Catharines’ campus.

St. Francis High School

Several additions and extensive internal alterations were used to transform the existing school into the high technology “School of Tomorrow” desired by the Lincoln Country Catholic School Board (now known as the Niagara Catholic District School Board). Additions house a new entrance/meeting area, a new cafeteria and a new arts/music wing. Mechanical and electrical services were added and/or upgraded and fire protection systems brought up to modern standards. In addition to refitting many of the classrooms, several high tech labs were installed and retrofitted for the computer based study of modern communications and manufacturing technologies.
