What is the opportunity?

Quartek Group Inc. is seeking an Intern in the Architectural Discipline for an intermediate position to assist in developing architectural design services and solutions. Quartek Group is a design collaborative composing exceptional solutions through the integration of Architectural, Engineering, Planning and Project Management services. In this role, you will be working closely with several architects, engineers, planners and technologists on various projects as part of our Architectural team.

What will you do?

  • assist in the design, assembly, coordination and completion of Schematic Design, Design Development and Construction Documents for issuance to clients, consultants and municipal authorities;
  • coordinate the development of drawings and specifications for all disciplines;
  • source all materials to be used, drawn and specified to ensure feasibility, to meet the design intent and to comply with industry standards and insurer requirements;
  • work closely with the project architect to ensure project deliverables are on time and within budget;
  • maintain familiarity with current construction document delivery methods to sustain and improve technical skills.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Master of Architecture, or equivalent;
  • minimum of 3 years and preferred 5 years of related experience;
  • eligibility for licensing with OAA;
  • strong computer skills to produce effective and accurate drawings, develop concepts and prepare reports and presentations;
  • knowledge of architectural design principles and procedures and relevant building codes and jurisdictional requirements;
  • strong understanding of North American construction practices and specifications;
  • full knowledge of the Ontario Building Code;
  • successful demonstration of a collaborative teamwork approach and attitude;
  • excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • sound knowledge of MS Office, Revit, AutoCAD, and Photoshop;
  • knowledge of Sketch Up, 3D Studio Max or other 3D rendering programs is an asset;
