12120 Bronte Park Washrooms

Bronte Park Washrooms

The Town of Oakville engaged Quartek Group to replace existing, subterranean public washrooms with a landmark building for Bronte Park. Using a material palette consistent with the Town’s current standard for public washrooms, Quartek explored the nautical theme established by the master plan for this distinctive site. The result is a utilitarian programmed building which expresses the kinetic energy of a sailboat. Quartek Group performed in this project architectural, structural, civil, mechanical and electrical design services, as well as Contract administration during construction.

It is the University’s largest functioning classroom as well as a performance venue for Brock Centre for the Arts. Our task was to modify the lobby with large window openings, plasma screen monitors and millwork. Interior auditorium renovations included creating barrier free viewing platforms and a new sound system and modified stage frame.

Operating on a rolling schedule of vacating old users, temporary relocations of other users and new users the daily challenges of this project requires a tremendous amount of coordination between the owner, contractor and a litany of needs presented by the program. This project is due to be completed in June 2013.

Niagara College – Tech Skills Addition

As part of the master plan that was being developed for Niagara College, the addition to the Tech Skills building consolidates the Advanced Technology Program from the Glendale Campus to the Welland Campus. The new building was conceived as a modified re-engineered building to meet budgetary requirements as well as allow for flexibility to keep pace with the changes inherent in technology. A combination of architectural metal panels was incorporated into the design of the facade that expresses the qualities of the building structure and the programs it houses.
