An 8,000 square-foot renovation spanning three distinct campus spaces located in the Secord Wing of Niagara College’s Welland Campus; 3,200 square-foot Eva Lewis Computer Lab, 3,400 square-foot Message Therapy Lab, and 1,400 square-foot Test Centre. This project required extensive architectural, interior design, structural, mechanical and electrical design services to implement better accessibility, improved acoustics and HVAC upgrades.The computer lab renovation project improved the acoustics of the existing space by implementing
sound-absorbing materials to minimize distractions, create a conducive atmosphere for concentration. The color palette of the ceiling baffles and textured wall panels feature bright, stimulating hues paired with calming neutrals, promoting focus while encouraging inspiration. The highlights of the test centre renovation included textured wall panels, flooring replacement and modification to existing HVAC systems to minimize penetrations into the individual and shared testing rooms. Dedicated zones for quiet study and brainstorming were incorporated, ensuring that students can choose environments that suit their needs.
