As part of the master plan that was being developed for Niagara College, the addition to the Tech Skills building consolidates the Advanced Technology Program from the Glendale Campus to the Welland Campus. The new building was conceived as a modified re-engineered building to meet budgetary requirements as well as allow for flexibility to keep pace with the changes inherent in technology. A combination of architectural metal panels was incorporated into the design of the facade that expresses the qualities of the building structure and the programs it houses.

Quartek Group Inc. provided full Architectural and Engineering services, including Site Planning and Site Services design. An existing watermain was upgraded to cater for this new building as well as future development of the campus. Quartek prepared construction documents, and provided tender and construction administration.

The budget for this 10,000 sq. ft. addition was $1.5 million. The building was completed in August of 2006, in time for the new academic year.
