In 2018, Quartek was engaged by the City of St. Catharines for architectural and engineering services for the renovation of the Port Weller Community Centre. The aged facility needed a facelift and accessibility upgrades. Existing washrooms were upgraded, and new washrooms, including two universal, were designed to be accessible to those using both the community centre and Bogart Street Park and the facility’s splash pad. Upgrades include a contemporary new façade and renovations to the front entrance vestibule, foyer, and common areas.
Quartek worked with the City of St. Catharines and Port Weller Community Centre Staff to effectively schedule construction phasing so that the facility could remain open throughout the construction. The addition is barrier-free and FADS compliant.
