Doug Peters, P. Eng., has been named President of the firm, taking over after the 5-year term of Rob MacKenzie. Doug has been a Principal of the firm since 1992 and has led the civil/municipal engineering group for 20+ years. Doug has 36 years’ experience in management, design, approvals and contract administration for private development and municipal infrastructure projects, servicing studies and multi-disciplined project management.
Robert MacKenzie, B. Arch. OAA, MRAIC, has been appointed Director of Corporate Development following 5 years as President, from 2010 through 2015. He has been a Principal of the firm since he joined in 1998, coming from a partnership with Stan Butcherd in Port Colborne. He contributes 28 years of practical experience in design, construction, contract administration, and business management in the architectural profession. His experience includes feasibility studies, space analysis, schematic planning, scheduling, graphics, signage, and interior & landscape design over a wide spectrum of building projects, particularly in office, commercial, industrial, hospital, government, institutional, and hospitality/tourism categories.
Norman Ocampo, B.E.S., B. Arch., OAA, has been named Director of Architecture and Urban Design. Norm has been a Principal of the firm for 5 years and is an accomplished architect with 25 years of experience, 15 of which have been at Quartek. In his role as Director of Architecture, which he has had for the past 5 years, Norman oversees production and co-ordination of technical and contract documentation, and ensures coordination of allied engineering services. His update portfolio includes responsibility for Urban Design, which encompasses coordinating comprehensive design for new and re-development, including presentation materials, to realize client vision and facilitate buy-in of stakeholders and approval agencies.
Paul Uppal has been appointed Director of Building Sciences. Paul has been a Principal of the firm for 7 years and leads Quartek’s Building Sciences group. He is a senior electrical design technician with extensive experience in design and layout of electrical systems for commercial, institutional, and industrial building projects, power supply, and interior and exterior lighting for a wide variety of applications. With 30+ years of practical application with Canadian building electrical systems and equipment design, Paul offers substantial depth in the range of electrical services offered to our clients and has significant knowledge in other building engineering disciplines.
Hank Klassen, P. Eng., has been named Manager of Civil Engineering. Hank has been with Quartek since 1989 and has 30+ years of experience in various aspects of the civil engineering profession and the construction industry. He has been involved in planning, environmental assessment, design, contract administration and project management for various residential, commercial, institutional and municipal infrastructure projects, primarily in the Niagara Region, encompassing roads, watermains, sanitary sewers, on-site sewage collection and disposal systems, storm drainage and stormwater management, and related works.
