Take Our Kids To Work at Quartek

November 2nd was Take Our Kids to Work Day, a day when students across Ontario spend a day in the life of a working professional. Here at Quartek, our Senior Civil Engineer, Eric Flora, brought his daughter Mackenzie to work with him for the day. Mackenzie participated in a weekly site progress meeting for the Jarvis Street (Fort Erie) road reconstruction project attended by Quartek, the general contractor, the electrical sub-contractor, and Town and Niagara Region staff. Following that meeting, she visited the Jarvis Street construction site and was shown the various ongoing work activities by Quartek’s site reviewer Jonny Langedyk. Mackenzie witnessed road grading of granular material, concrete sidewalk placement, hydrovac work, streetlight pole base construction, and partial removal of macadam asphalt. Afterward, Mackenzie was shown several of Quartek’s other projects that the civil department was involved with; Fort Erie International Academy and Miller Waste System’s (Niagara Region contract) Truck Parking Facility located in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
