This 63 metre (208 feet) long self-weathering steel bridge over the Third Welland Canal completed the Welland Canals Trail between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. The Welland Canals Trail is a busy multi-use recreation trail and a component of the Greater Niagara Circle Route (a 142 km. long circuit trail which includes the Niagara Parkway). Quartek Group Inc. provided a feasibility study with preliminary conceptual design, detailed design and tender documents, as well as construction administration services for the project. Providing an attractive and effective crossing over this section of the Third Welland Canal, this project entailed liaison with the City of Thorold, Regional Municipality of Niagara, Ontario Power Generation, the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation and he Greater Niagara Circle Route Committee. This bridge was completed within budget in April in time for the 2006 summer recreational season.
