The site is located along Main Street in the Historic Drummondville District and was one of the last remaining vacant sites along this street. In order to maximize the site for a new medical clinic, a minor variance application and planning consent was successfully completed to accommodate a shared driveway with the neighbouring site, and the construction of the building to the front lot line. The architecture reinstates the existing fabric of this area with a two storey structure that addresses and complements the street. Located in the Historic Drummondville area of Niagara Falls, this building project qualifies for the Community Improvement Plan (CIP) and financial incentives.
Quartek Group provided planning, civil engineering, architecture design, structural, electrical, mechanical engineering, and interior design for the project. The project was a catalyst for further reinvestment in an area that had undergone considerable decline but still maintained a Main Street character. Since the clinic’s completion in July of 2013, two existing buildings to the south of the site have undergone façade improvements and have new tenants operating in these previously vacant units. Quartek won a Niagara Community Design award in 2014 for this small scale project.
