The DSBN Education Centre is the main administrative building for the District School Board of Niagara. Constructed in 1991, the building utilizes approximately ninety heat pumps for heating, cooling and room ventilation. Electric baseboard heating supplements heat pump heat and compensate for building envelop losses. The heat pump loop was served by two atmospheric boilers, and an outdoor roof-mounted cooling tower to provide heating and cooling loop water.

The kitchen and food prep area were upgraded to commercial kitchen equipment complete with kitchen exhaust and fire suppression, welded grease ducts and energy management demand control system. The basement print shop received dedicated HVAC equipment which tempers the room to provide seasonal dehumidification and humidification, ventilation and heating.

Mechanical Engineering was provided to replace the aged mechanical equipment including all heat pumps, condensing boilers, indoor makeup air unit, condensing domestic water heater, and building automation system with new energy-efficient and maintainable systems and equipment.
