Quartek was the Award Winner for Architecture for the design of the Niagara District Airport at the Niagara Community Design Awards 2011.

In order for the Airport Commission to meet joint government funding commitments, the Region of Niagara was requested by the Commission to steer the redevelopment of the Niagara District Airport. The broader planning of the Airport improvements included runway resurfacing, replacement of the existing terminal building and demolition of the old terminal once the new building was constructed. The Region retained the services of Quartek Group Inc. to provide architectural and engineering design for the new terminal building.

The 6000 sq.ft. new one-storey Airport Terminal was designed as an attractive, purpose-built facility providing a standard of excellence for visitors arriving by aircraft to Niagara or guests/tourists waiting for air tour operations at the airport.

The building area is subdivided into public space, administration offices, common use boardroom, male/female handicap washrooms, IT and miscellaneous storage space, tour operator offices and retail areas. It incorporates many sustainable design features and is designed to be durable and cost effective to operate.

Quartek Group Inc. provided Architectural, Structural, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and Interior Design, construction drawings and specifications for this new terminal building . During construction Quartek also provided construction administration and review.
