Quartek Group was responsible for the full Architectural, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical design for this new 5 storey 50 unit Seniors Apartment Complex for CityHousing Hamilton. Comprised of fifty single bedroom apartments, 5 of which meet the City of Hamilton’s Barrier Free Guidelines for accessibility the location offers ready access to major arterial roadways as well as City Transit. The building footprint measures 750 Sq. meters with a total area of 4500 sq. meters. The structure is primarily block construction with brick veneer and metal paneling on the exterior. With 2 elevators each floor offers a common lounge space as well as a communal kitchen and gathering spaces in the basement as well as tenant storage. Each apartment is equipped with a Juliet balcony with sliding doors allowing for ample fresh air in the unit. Our design for the Mechanical HVAC system used central Heat Pumps, Cooling Towers and Boilers system. Fresh air was supplied through a central Makeup air unit.
