This project consisted of approximately 10 kms. of paved trail along the Welland Canal including two bridges (65m and 15m spans). It effectively completes the Greater Niagara Circle Route which is 142 km. circuit of multi-use recreational trails which also includes the Niagara River Recreational Trails. Quartek Group Inc. provided design, construction review and construction administration services for the project. Design of the trail, which has attractive wooded and canal-side portions, entailed security and signage considerations as well as liaison with the City of Thorold, Regional Municipality of Niagara, Ontario Power Generation, the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation and the Greater Niagara Circle Route Committee. It was completed within budget in 2006 and receives numerous compliments from its many users.
