Due to tourism and local development, increases in both pedestrian and vehicular traffic along Niagara Stone Road (Regional Road 55) necessitated an easier pedestrian access to
downtown Virgil from the predominantly residential area to the west. Quartek Group Inc. (formerly MPS Reinders Niagara Inc.) provided a design for pedestrian bridges, sidewalks and retaining walls on both sides of Niagara Stone Road, adjacent to the existing road bridge over Four Mile Creek. The project included the provision of a ramp connecting to the new recreation trail system along Four Mile Creek. The scope of the project also included design and coordination of rehabilitation work on the bridge (Niagara Stone Road over Four Mile Creek) which was carried out at the same time.

* Note: Prior to 2000, Quartek Group Inc. was known as MPS Reinders Niagara Inc.
